Examining Reading Assessment Practices at Brookwood Elementary School

Nicole Marcinkevics, teacher at Brookwood Elementary School in Spruce Grove, administers thoughtful and careful running records when assessing her students’ reading. As a staff, Brookwood School is examining their reading assessment practices – the challenge of how to schedule and execute informal benchmark reading assessments, as well as innovative ways to implement ongoing assessments. Knowing what students are good at as readers and what they need to work on gives teachers insight into how to help their students set realistic and effective reading goals.
