All learning opportunities with the ERLC regional team will include a focus on the intent of Inspiring Education, the ministerial order for student learning and curriculum redesign. This session will be grounded in numeracy principles, the Alberta context and offer practical pedagogy around supporting numeracy learning.

This learning opportunity is being provided through funding from Alberta Education.

About the Facilitator

Keith Van De Keere is a recently retired school administrator who has focused his last 7 years on being a Math Curriculum Coordinator and Coach for school districts, working with teachers in workshop settings as well as providing in-class support for individual teachers from Kindergarten through Grade 8.

He asks teachers to provide student focused learning within a community of learners. This requires teachers to become better “kid watchers” in order to find what is really understood by students, and then responding accordingly.

Keith has recently been chosen to work in western Canada with Cathy Fosnot to provide learning opportunities for teachers who want to create and maintain a dynamic math classroom experience for kids.
