About this Learning Opportunity
Are you wondering how to make use of both SMART Boards and devices such as iPads, iPods or other tablets? This session will explore how you can design engaging lesson activities to support a variety of learners in your classroom.
In this session, you will:
- explore apps that allow you to control or interact with your SMART Board.
- Integrate apps and online resources for polling or quizzing students in your SMART Board lessons.
- look at different ways to display your iPad on your SMART Board.
- use QR Codes and investigate ways to use them in your SMART board lessons to support learners.
- investigate various ways of getting content to and from these devices.
- explore a range of apps for content creation in a variety of subject areas.
This session focuses on: TPK (Technological Pedagogical Knowledge) - How to use the technology effectively, i.e. what are these tools and how can I use them to engage students in deeper learning? |

About the Facilitator
Karla Holt has taught primarily in the elementary grades and her passion for teaching and learning with technology flourished while she taught at a technology specialist school in England. After returning to Canada, she began working as an independent educational technology consultant. She currently works part-time with Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools as a learning coach supporting teachers on the use of technology to support all learners in the inclusive classroom. She also works with the Edmonton Regional Learning Consortium facilitating professional learning on integrating technology into the curriculum.
