About this learning opportunity

Cree8 Success is the first ever artist-initiated conference directed at using Aboriginal Apprenticeship/Mentorship techniques to help those who work with Aboriginal people.

The challenges our youth will face tomorrow will require Creative Thinking, Collaboration, and exceptional Literacy and Numeracy skills. Today our youth need to be Creators and Innovators – Learners and Teachers.

Cree8 Success started as way to get Indigenous Experts in their creative fields to come together with teachers, administrators, child and social workers, artists and anyone else who was interested in learning a new way of engaging based on traditional concepts and practices.

What we have found through our years of working in our communities and schools is that the best way to teach Indigenous Youth turns out to be the best way to teach Everyone.

The Challenge:

How to engage students in their own education and prepare them for the unique challenges of the 21st century.

The Solution:

Through Art Literacy.

What This Means:

The problems our children face in a world that moves faster, changes faster, and presents difficulties faster than at any other time in history requires a new way of learning and reasoning things out. Young minds must be taught to be quick, nimble, engaged. They must be able to focus deeply on a single problem, but also be expansive enough to see the whole, to be able to connect concepts in a cross-disciplinary fashion.

The best way to teach these things is to do them. To model them. To create spaces of surprise, investigation and discovery. In essence, to transform the learning experience for the student and the teacher into something fun, exciting, and challenging.

This conference will show you how.

Our presenters are all experts in their respective fields and all have extensive experience working with youth and teachers alike.

We hope you are intrigued and we hope to see you this November!
